Tax/Fee Information-Dog Tags
Although State Law has required licenses for dogs since 1972, the General Assembly of 2006 and 2007 made changes to that process. Effective July 1, 2007, area veterinarians are required to notify localities when a rabies vaccination is given. Dog tags are required not later than 30 days after a dog has reached the age of four months, or not later than 30 days after an owner acquires dog four months of age or older and each year thereafter. It is the owner's responsibility to purchase a dog tag when the rabies vaccination is renewed. You will only be sent a notice from our office if you do not purchase a tag on your own.
Dog Licenses run concurrently with the rabies vaccination period and are valid for the length of that period that was purchased. Renewals cannot exceed the rabies vaccination period.
