Your mortgage company should request a copy of your bill. You may wish to send them your copy of the bill. Tax information is also available on this website. If you want to know if we have received payment from your mortgage company, you may check it online or call our office (540-665-5607). Mortgage Companies typically pay on the day taxes are due.
How are Real Estate taxes calculated?
The Board of Supervisors establishes a tax rate for real estate every Spring when it adopts the following fiscal year’s budget. The rate applied for 2009 is 51 cents per $100 of value.
To compute the real estate tax on a property assessed at $175,000, divide the assessed value by 100 and multiply
by the tax rate: $175,000/100=1750 * .51= $892.50
